Oracle Announces Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition 10g Release 3

Oracle announced the next release of its open, standards-based suite of enterprise business intelligence (BI) products: Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition 10g Release 3. This release of Oracle Business Intelligence Suite EE focuses on three key areas:

  • new components and enhancements to enable pervasive, enterprise-wide intelligence;
  • strategic integration with Oracle Applications, Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle Database
  • expanded "hot-pluggable" support for third-party data sources and systems.

Pervasive Intelligence to Optimize Enterprise-wide Performance:

Enabling pervasive intelligence demands a new class of BI capabilities -- information must be relevant to all users, delivered in time to affect business results, be accessible through a broad range of mediums such as dashboards, alerts, and reports, and be integrated seamlessly into business processes and workflow. The BI architecture must also provide a foundation that can scale economically over time to handle nearly limitless data growth and user demands. The next release of Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition plans to extend Oracle's unique capabilities across all of these dimensions.

Enterprise real-time analytics from InforSense

InforSense, a London-based provider of enterprise real-time analytics, has secured $10 million in new VC funding. InforSense informatics platform is used for seamless integration of all types of data resources, analytical tools, applications and services in life sciences, healthcare, consumer goods and financial services organisations. It enables decision-makers to interactively analyse data, gain new insights and communicate both methods and results across the organisation.

Integrative Analytics is a paradigm pioneered by InforSense for constructing and executing data analysis processes that access multiple distributed data sources and use a variety of distributed computer applications to derive new knowledge.

By adopting an integrative analytics approach, an organization can orchestrate all the tasks involved in increasingly complex decision-making processes using multiple data sources and tools, whilst enabling every user to easily derive the knowledge they need to make better decisions, faster, with increasingly scarce resources.

Hyperion and HyperRoll to Collaborate on Technology Solution

As part of a new partner agreement, Hyperion announced plans to bring its acclaimed Hyperion System 9 together with technology from HyperRoll, a provider of high-performance data aggregation software for business intelligence (BI) applications. The partner agreement is part of a mutual resolution of patent litigation between the two companies, which also includes a technology cross-licensing arrangement, and an equity investment by Hyperion in HyperRoll.

The multi-year alliance includes a close collaboration between the two companies that will be focused on bringing together HyperRoll technology and Hyperion System 9 components. HyperRoll's technology is purpose-built to deliver immediate and substantial improvements in BI performance, and is complementary to Hyperion technologies. The resulting solutions can enable customers to reduce their overall cycle times required by financial reporting applications. They can also help enterprises bridge their growing data gap by transparently making data available to end users, no matter the source being accessed.

Oracle Buys Sunopsis

Sunopsis, a provider of high-performance data integration products for heterogeneous IT environments, has been acquired by Oracle. Sunopsis data integration products are built using next generation "Extract Load Transform (ELT)" architecture. The data transformations take place within the source or target databases without the need for an ETL server. This results in higher performance and scalability along with easier maintenance for data integration solutions.

Oracle and Sunopsis have complementary products with a shared focus on delivering the data integration products to our customers. Real-time information access, next-generation architectures and more mixed IT environments are driving increased requirements for sophisticated, fast, heterogeneous data integration solutions. We plan to incorporate Sunopsis’ high-performance data integration technology into the Oracle Fusion Middleware product family and make it an integrated part of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), Business Intelligence (BI), and Master Data Management (MDM) solutions from Oracle. Sunopsis products are optimized for heterogeneous IT environments and as part of Oracle’s hot-pluggable middleware architecture, Oracle is committed to supporting Oracle and non-Oracle data sources and targets.

Visual i|o, advanced visual analytics for decison support

Traditional approaches to business intelligence and reporting solutions have focused on accessing and delivering data. Visual i|o significantly enhances the user interface and achieves this in the way that we look at the system and flow of infomation from capture, storage, logic and interpretation through the user interface, and ultimately, its meaning and use to the user. Visual i|o’s patent pending system for application delivery utilizes a logical model uniquely designed around business and decision-making perspectives —Visual i|o’s Business Reporting Architecture.

Visual i|o advanced visualization applications offer a more effective way to acquire, analyze, understand, and use information. The presentation-tier applications leverage existing IT systems and data sources to bring an entirely new level of visibility and clarity to support the decision-making efforts of executives, managers, knowledge workers, and consumers.
