$15.1 billion advisory fee YTD, signs of strength or an M&A bubble?

WSJ has reported today that world-wide mergers and acquisitions advisory fees year-to-date have increased nearly 35% y/y to reach $15.1 billion. Fees this year have surpassed that bubble era record in 2000, led by M&A activity in financials ($2.15 B, 54% growth), and energy ($2.05B, and 49% growth).
