The median valuation for venture capital backed startup companies in US rose 20% to $18.4 million in the first quarter, according to VentureOne
  • This is the highest valuation since 4Q 2000 at $23 million.
  • The median valuation was $15.3 million in 1Q 2005
  • U.S. venture capital firms raised $4.26 billion in the first quarter of 2006, a 69% increase over the amount of capital raised in the first quarter of 2005, according to Dow Jones VentureOne
  • U.S. venture capital investing increased to $6.02 billion in 1Q 2006, an 18% increase over a year ago, in 564 deals, according to the Quarterly Venture Capital Report released by Dow Jones VentureOne
