In the overall European market, dealmakers have recorded 2,785 deal announcements and US$362.6 billion in aggregate deal value, compared to the 2005 quarterly averages of 3,085 deal announcements and US$210.5 billion in aggregate deal value. And in the overall Asian and Asian sub-continent market, 1,680 deal announcements have been reported along with US$95.1 billion in total deal value, compared to the 2005 quarterly averages of 1,952 deal announcements and US$65.3 billion in total deal value. The Middle Market M&A results for the North American, U.S., European, and Asian and Asian sub-continent have been a little more mixed. (Middle Market M&A was defined by FactSet Mergerstat in its report as deals disclosing prices between US$1 million and US$500 million). The US Middle Market posted 767 deal announcements and US$56.7 billion in total deal value, compared to the 2005 quarterly averages of 859 deal announcements and US$55 billion in total deal value. The European Middle Market has been a little less solid. Total deal announcements stood at 779 and total deal value at US$46.1 billion as of March 29, compared to the 2005 quarterly averages of 883 deal announcements and US$53.7 billion. The Asian and Asian sub-continent Middle Market also has been somewhat more sluggish. Dealmakers in the region have recorded 678 deal announcements and have disclosed US$23.1 billion in aggregate deal value, compared to the 2005 quarterly averages of 802 deal announcements and US$28.7 billion in aggregate deal value. |
