Total U.S. printer shipments totaled 7.7 million units in 2Q

Total printer and multifunction product (MFP) shipments in the United
States declined 4.2% to 7.7 million units in the second quarter of 2006,
according to Gartner,
Inc.
Inkjet printer and MFP shipments reached 5.5 million units, a decline of 7.8% in the second quarter of 2006. HP continued to dominate the inkjet printer and MFP market in the second quarter with a 56.4% market share, followed by Lexmark(13%) and Cannon (10.5%). |
Page printer and MFP shipments reached 1.7 million units, an increase of 13.4% in the second quarter. HP also took the top spot in the page printer and MFP segment with 42.7% market share, followed by Dell(9.3%) and Brother(7.6%). Due to increasing presence on retail shelves, Brother increased 54.5 percent to move past Canon to become the No. 3 vendor in the page printer and MFP category |
