Ad-Server and Ad-Splicer Equipment Revenues to Reach $1.8 Billion by 2011
New markets for ad-servers and ad-splicing
equipment promise dramatic near-term growth in North America, Western
Europe, and Japan. Revenues from these new technologies will total $284m
in 2006, rising to approximately $1.8 billion by
2011, according
to a study from ABI Research.
In some trials, VOD viewer numbers
increased dramatically when the service became advertising-based instead
of fee-based.
Established video-on-demand (VOD) equipment companies such as SeaChange,
C-COR (nCUBE), and Concurrent Computer Systems stand to benefit from this
new market direction, as well as IPTV-oriented firms such as Bitband and
UTStarcom that have on-demand platforms.
