China on path to claim 68% share of auto infotainment systems shipped worldwide
Global
shipments of Chinese made automotive infotainment systems will jump 40% in
2006, forecasts
iSuppli. Infotainment design services in China are surging with a 57%
share of Chinese-made infotainment products, equal
to 48 million units in 2006. Multinational original equipment
manufacturer (OEMs) and Taiwanese original design manufacturer (ODMs) are
increasingly seeking Chinese design services.
By 2010, China will be on a path to
become the global manufacturing center of auto infotainment industry,
attaining a 68% share of all such systems shipped
worldwide. By 2010, China's automotive infotainment system
production will rise to 80 million units from
47.7 million units in 2006. iSuppli also believes that China's share of
global automotive infotainment design services business will expand from
18% in 2005 to whopping 40% by 2010.
CD Systems will have the greatest opportunity among all products, with shipments expected to reach 28 million units in 2006. Other key products include Cassette systems, Video/DVD systems, and Navigation systems.
