Total European IT Spending to Reach $565B vs. $721B in U.S. This Year

Total European IT spending on computer and communications equipment, software, IT services and outsourcing, and IT staff is estimated to reach $565 billion in 2006 (€448 billion) compared with $721 billion in the US, according to according to a forecast by Forrester Research.

8M Households Spent At Least $500 Purchasing Online in Last 3 Months

Top Business & Finance Magazines Generated Over $2.2 billion Gross Revenues

The business and finance magazines in the U.S. generated over $2.2 billion in annual gross revenue from advertising and circulation in 2005, according to the 17th annual Advertising Age Magazine 300 report. BusinessWeek tops the list with $397 million in gross revenues,  followed by Forbes at $382 million, and Fortune at $350 million. Total paid circulation of the top magazines was 10.7 million, as Money magazines tops the list in paid circulation with over 1.9 million.

Top Tech Magazines Generated Roughly $1 billion Gross Revenues

The top tech magazines  in the U.S. generated roughly $1 billion in gross revenue from advertising and circulation in 2005, according to the 17th annual Advertising Age Magazine 300 report. PC Magazine tops the list with with $165 million, followed by InformationWeek at $116 million.

Top 300 Magazines in the U.S. Rose 5.2% in Revenue to $36.64 billion in 2005

The top 300 magazines in the U.S. advanced 5.2% in gross revenue from advertising and circulation to $36.64 billion in 2005, according to the 17th annual Advertising Age Magazine 300 report. By comparison, gross revenue at the top 300 magazines increased 8% in 2004 from the year earlier.
  1. People: $1.37 billion, up 8.1%
  2. Better Homes & Gardens:$971.5M, up 9.4%
  3. Time: $944.6 million, down 6%
  4. Sports Illustrated: $925.7 million, down 9.8%.
  5. TV Guide: $726.1 million, down 20.9%

The 10 Biggest Problems With Wireless and How to Fix Them: T-Mobile USA has added more than 2,000 new cell sites across the country. Sprint Nextel is investing approximately $7 billion to improve and maintain both its wireless and wire-line networks this year. Verizon Wireless spends an average of $5 billion annually to improve its network.

Cellphone battery life improves by about 15% a year. Most phone batteries will last about a day and a half if users talk on average an hour a day and send 100 to 200 emails or use the equivalent data time.

Only 19% of U.S. Internet Users Access the Web from their Mobile Phone

29% of European Internet users (from France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK) regularly access the Web from their mobile phones compared to only 19% in the U.S, according to comScore Mobile Tracking Study for September, which reveals significant differences in the way that Europeans and Americans use the Web on their mobile phones.

Spam, Virus, & Phishing Threat Trends - September 2006

Spam levels in September decreased 0.1% in from August to 64.4% (1 in 1.55 emails) while Viruses incident increased 0.1% to 1 in 89.6 emails (1.12%) and Phishing attacks jumped 0.27% to 1 in 170 emails (0.59%), according to threat trends from MessageLabs Intelligence report for September.
