IP Phone Shipments to Jump 16 Fold from 2006 to 2010

The mass migration to IP-based services is finally happening in both the business and consumer markets. Total IP phone annual shipments will grow from 10 million units in 2006 to 164 million units in 2010, according to In-Stat research. Cisco leads the business IP phone market with a 43% market share. The next closest competitor is Avaya, at 12%. Only 40% of IP PBX seats are currently configured with IP phones.

Black Friday Sales Up 6% to Nearly $9B; Wal-Mart Disappoints

The nation's retailers had a strong start to the holiday shopping season, as sales rose 6% to $8.96 billion on Balck Friday, compared to the same day a year ago, according to ShopperTrak RCT Corp., which tracks total sales at more than 45,000 mall-based retail outlets. However Wal-Mart sales lagged as it expects to report same-store sales in November below its already lackluster forecast.
