SMB Share of Federal IT Contracts Shrinking to 35%: INPUT 

The percent of federal IT prime contract dollars going to large companies increased from 50% in 2003 to 65% in 2005, while small- and medium-sized businesses saw their share decline by 15% during the same period, according to a recent study conducted by INPUT.

Borrell Associates: Online Recruitment Advertising to Hit $10B

For the first time, recruiters are spending more on online media than they are in any other form, including newspapers. Borrel Associates estimates that at $5.9 billion in 2006, the online recruitment sector represents one-fourth of all Internet advertising.

Wall Street Bonuses Hit Record $23.9 billion, up 15% in 2006

Wall Street bonuses are expected to rise to a record $23.9 billion in 2006 from $20.5 billion in 2005, according to New York State Comptroller. The bonuses will generate $1.6 billion in tax revenues for New York State and another $500 million for New York City.

Marijuana is the Largest U.S. Cash Crop at $35B: Study

U.S. growers produce nearly $35 billion worth of marijuana annually, making the illegal pot the country's largest cash crop, bigger than corn and wheat combined, according to a report by National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws - NORMAL (Reuters reports).

DVD Players Surpass VCRs; PC-73%, Cell Phone- 76% Penetration: Nielsen

More U.S. households now own DVD players (81.2% of all households) than VCRs (79.2% of households), according to the Nielsen Media Research's 3rd Quarter Home Technology Report released today. Findings from this quarterly study also show ownership of most media technology trending up from previous years.

Building Permits Fell Over 31% Since Last November

Construction of new homes and apartments increased by 6.7% in November to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.588 million units, while applications for permits to build new homes fell for a 10th consecutive month, according to data from The U.S. Census Bureau.

Wholesale Prices Jump in November by Largest Amount in 32 Years

The Producer Price Index for finished goods, which measures inflation at the wholesale level, surged 2% in November, the biggest advance since a similar increase in November 1974, the Labor Department reported Tuesday.
