Phone Users in China to Hit 900 million in 2007
The number of Chinese fixed and mobile
telephone subscribers surged 11% to 830 million and are expected to hit
900 million by the end of 2007, according to data from the state-run
Xinhua news agency, reports
AFP.
The number of mobile subscribers is likely to keep growing rapidly from the current levels of over 450 million as more people begin to use different mobile numbers and the rural market for mobile phones continues to open up, the official report said.
China currently has about 132 million Internet users, which jumped 19% from a year ago.
