Record 151 Media M&A Deals in 2006, a 33% Jump: DeSilva & Phillips

The number of media M&A activity jumped 33% in 2006 to a record number of 151 deals, surpassing the previous record of 124 set in 2004, according to media investment bank DeSilva & Phillips.

Other Highlights on Media M&A from DeSilva & Phillips:

  • The dollar volume of 2006 deals reached $20.50 billion, a whopping 242% surge from $6.00 billion in 2005 on 114 deals.

  • The $11.1 billion private equity buyout of VNU and the $2.4 billion sales of Reader’s Digest Association top the deals in dollar terms. 

DeSilva & Phillips has completed over 165 transactions with over $6.5 billion in value since it was founded in 1996.
