Wireless Subscribers: 50% Use Text Messaging; 17% Subscribe to Internet

Consumers are growing ever more attached to their cell phones, with 14% reporting that they no longer subscribe to landline phone service, and 33% strongly agreeing they “feel lost” without their cell phone, according to a comScore report on the behavior and attitudes of wireless phone subscribers.

Google sites, with 112.2 million unique visitors, has become the second most popular web property behind Microsoft sites in December 2006, according to Nielson/NetRatings. Yahoo web site is still the most popular with 110.7 million unique visitors, followed by Google at 108.2 million unique visitors.

Top 10 Online Newspapers Blog Traffic Grew 210% YoY in December to 3.7M Visitors

Web traffic to the blog pages of the top 10 online newspapers grew 210% year over year in December 2006, compared to the 9% overall unique audience growth to these online newspapers, according to Nielsen//NetRatings (NTRT). Unique visitors to blog pages accounted for 13% of their December 2006 Web traffic, up 9 percentage points from 4% in December 2005.

23.5 million US Mobile Subscribers Have Music-Capable Phones: Telephia

23.5 million mobile subscribers in the U.S. have phones with integrated music players, up five times from the same period in 2005 and nearly 20% of the new phones purchased in Q3 2006 were music capable, according to Telephia.

Digital Music Sales Worldwide Doubled in 2006 to $2 billion

Global digital music sales almost doubled in 2006 to $2 billion, or about 10% of all music sales, from 5.5 % in 2005, according to The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).  The report expected digital sales to account for almost 25% of all sales worldwide by 2010.
