84% US Workers Not in Their Dream Jobs; "Presenteeism" Costs $180B a Year

Nearly four out of five U.S. workers (84%) are not currently in their dream job, according to a CareerBuilder.com national consumer employment survey, conducted by Harris Interactive.

Google and Apple Top 2006 Brand Ranking; Wikipedia in Top 5

Search giant Google has again topped the global brand ranking in 2006, followed by Apple in 2nd place, with YouTube and Wikipedia debuting in the top five, according to the annual survey by online branding magazine brandchannel.com.

New Home Sales Biggest Drop in 16 Years; Durables Orders Rose 3.1%

New home sales jumped 4.8% in December to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.12 million homes, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. For the full year 2006, new home sales plunged 17.3%, the biggest drop in 16 years, to 1.06 million, down from the record 1.28 million in 2005.

Online Line Content in Europe Jumps 400% to $10.7 billion by 2010: Study

Digital online content revenues in Europe are set to jump 400% in five years to reach €8.3 billion (or $10.7 billion) by 2010, according to a new report by the European Commission’s Directorate General Information Society. The study also  identified 36 key roadblocks to developing online content.

Airline Delays Set Record in 2006: 22.1 million Minutes or 42 Years

Airline delays increased sharply to record levels in 2006 as 22% of flights were delayed 15 or more minutes during the course of 2006, according to according to federal data obtained by USA TODAY. Just under 20% of flights were delayed in 2005, according to the Department of Transportation.
