Economic Indicators: CPI Rose 0.2%; Leading Economic Indicators Up 0.1%

Consumer prices rose by 0.2% in January, compared to a 0.4% rise in December, according to the Labor Department. Core inflation, which excludes volatile energy and food components, rose by 0.3% in January, the largest one-month gain in seven months.

US Health Care Spending to Double to $4.1 Trillion by 2016 - 20 Cents of Every 5 Dollars Spent

U.S. health care costs are set to double over the next 10 years to $4.1 trillion annually, or 1 dollar of every 5 dollars spent, according to a study by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, published today in the Web edition of the journal Health Affairs.

China Mobile Adds Record 4.86M Users in January; Total Subscribers Surpass 300M

China Mobile, the world's largest wireless phone carrier by users, with more customers than the total U.S. population, added a record 4.86 million subscribers in January, taking its total to 306.1 million users. China Mobile stock surged 83% last year.

Internet Movies and TV Shows Market to Top $5.8 Billion By 2011

Consumer spending on Internet downloads of movies and TV shows will surpass $4 billion in 2011, up from just $111 million in 2006, according to a report by Adams Media Research.  Total PC/TV Internet video market, including ad spending, is expected to top $5.8 billion by 2011.

Chinese Electronic Information Products Exports to Jump 14% to $390B in 2007

China's export of electronic information products, including computers and communications products, is expected to grow 14% to $390 billion in 2007, according to China's Ministry of Information Industry, reports Xinhua.

HP Top Semiconductor Consumer at $12 billion; Top 10 OEMs Accounted for $84B in 2006

The top 10 original equipment manufacturer (OEM) firms accounted for $84 billion of the semiconductor market in 2006, representing a third of all semiconductor consumption, according to Gartner. This is a 9% increase from 2005 when the top 10 OEMs accounted for $77 billion of semiconductors sales.
