Top 5 Search Engines in January; Searches Up 26% YoY to 6.6 billion

In January 2007, Google share of online search in US jumped 0.2% to 47.5%, according to comScore Networks qSearch analysis of activity across competitive search engines in  the US.  Yahoo! Sites lost 0.4% share to finish second with 28.1% of U.S. searches.

Charitable Giving to Colleges Grew to a Record $28 billion; Top 20 Colleges and Sources

Charitable contributions to higher education grew 9.4% to a record $28 billion in the last academic year, according to a report by the Council for Aid to Education. Contributions to Stanford University rose 50% to top $911.6 million, the largest amount ever raised by a U.S. university in a year, according to the report.

Nearly 80% Americans Use Internet to Plan Travel: Burst Study

The recent Burst Media study found that 79.0% respondents will use the Internet to plan their upcoming personal travel. In 2007, for the first time, online travel bookings will account for over half (54%) of all U.S. travel bookings (nearly $70 billion), according to PhoCusWright.

Compliance Spending for North American Companies to Hit $30 billion This Year

Annual compliance spending for all North American companies is expected to grow 8.5% this year to $29.9 billion from $27.3 billion in 2006, according to a study by AMR Research.
