U.S. Service Sector Expands at a Slower Rate in March: ISM Report

Business activity in the service sector increased at a slower rate in March 2007, according to the latest ISM report by the nation's purchasing and supply executives. The index of business activity in the non-manufacturing sector registered 52.4 in March, down from 54.3 in February. Wall Street was expecting a reading of 54.7. The index is at its lowest level since April 2003.

Love Online Video: 100 Million Americans Streamed Video Content Online

While Americans still love their TVs for watching television programming and DVDs, at the end of 2006, 58% of Americans age 12 or older with Internet access had streamed some form of video content online, according to Ipsos Insight from MOTION - the company’s biannual study of digital video behaviors.

Video Game Addiction: 81% of American Youth Play; 8.5% are Addicted

Reports from around the world suggest that gaming addiction is real and on the rise. With nearly 8 in 10 American youth (81%) playing video games at least one time per month, including 94% of all boys playing, this certainly raises concerns about video game addiction.

IPTV Rising: 92% CAGR to 103 million in 2011

Global IPTV subscribers will rise to 103 million in 2011, expanding at a whopping Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 92.5% up from 3.9 million in 2006, iSuppli Corp. predicts. This translates into $39.1 billion in revenue, up by a factor of more than 40 from $960.5 million in 2006.

Job Cuts Plunge 42% in March; Housing Cuts Surge 346% from Q1 2006

Planned job cuts plunged to a eight-month low in March, with the housing-related industries of real estate, construction and mortgage lending announcing nearly as many job cuts in the first three months of 2007 as in all of 2006.
