January 2007, Google share of online search in US jumped 0.2% to 47.5%,
according to comScore Networks qSearch analysis of activity across
competitive search engines in the US. Yahoo! Sites lost 0.4%
share to finish second with 28.1% of U.S. searches.

Advertisers
in North America spent roughly $10 billion on search engine marketing in
2006, a 62% jump from 2005, according to an annual survey by the Search
Engine Marketing Professional Organization (SEMPO).
Based on the survey, SEMPO estimates that search engine marketing will
double to $18.6 billion by 2011, reports

cellphone subscribers are estimated at over 2 billion while the global
internet users stand at around 1.2 billion. Yahoo! is placing big bets on
mobile phone search, and announced
Yahoo! Go for Mobile 2.0 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2007 in
Las Vegas today.

Google
continues to dominate the search with almost half the share of search
market and generating over 3 billion monthly searches. However, in terms
of year over growth, Ask.com has taken the lead in November with a 33%
jump in search share versus 31% increase for Google, acording to the
November 2006 data for the Top U.S. Search Providers from Nielsen//NetRatings
(NTRT).

can't find it". Many U.S. professionals do not get the results
they are looking for and are forced to abandon their efforts when they use
popular Internet search engines for work-related research, according to a
